On Wednesday July 29, 2015, in the morning, we had the great blessing and honour to host Georgian Orthodox Bishop of North America Sava. His grace was greeted with the sound of bells and a Doxology in Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Milton, by the acting abbot of the monastery Hieromonk Vasilije and Rev. Fr. Milos Puric from Toronto. Fr. Milos and Bishop Sava attended the Belgrade Theological Faculty together. His Grace was accompanied by Rev. Fr. Thomas, local priest from Toronto and some of his faithful parishioners.
After venerating the Holy Altar, and at the invitation of the abbot, coffee and fruit were served in the monastery rectory. The refreshments bore very interesting conversation about the status of church life of our Georgian Orthodox brethren on this continent. At the same time, we took advantage of this opportunity and spoke to His Grace about his recent visits to Monastery Chelije near Valjevo, Constantinople with our bishops Longin and Maxim, and his views on the upcoming Pan-Orthodox Council in Constantinople which will God-willing be held next year.
Unfortunately, Bishop Sava was in a hurry and our conversation was cut short. We mutually agreed to continue the discussion at the approaching festivities for the canonization of St. Sebastian of Jackson in Los Angeles in September of this year.
His Grace continues his missionary travels by visiting Montreal where he will on Saturday August 1, with the blessing of our Bishop and Serbian Patriarch Irinej, serve Holy Liturgy in our Holy Trinity parish.
