St. Elijah Serbian Missionary Parish in Kelowna, in British Columbia has celebrated its patron saint on August 3 and 4th. Every year many Serbians from Vancouver and Lower Mainland visit and this year also many guests came to take part in patron saint celebration. St. Elijah Parish welcomed the Serbian Bishop for Canada with respect and love.
On August 3, on Saturday, there was a picnic with Serbian specialties and in the evening after the Evening Service there was organized an evening for your youth.
On Sunday, August 4th, His Grace Bishop Mitrofan has served Archbishop’s Divine Liturgy together with presbyter Marko Radmanovic and presence of many faithful parishioners. At the cantor’s stands were singers from St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church from Vancouver.
His Grace Mitrofan has held an uplifting sermon and has emphasized the importance of being attached to the Church and to always and for any reason or problem always go to see the priest first and surely God will help.
There was a litany around the parish chapel and then Bishop has blessed Slava bread and wheat. After the divine service it was prepared Slava lunch organized by sisters an there was a Birthday Cake surprise for Bishop Mitrofan whose birthday was on that day. All present sang Many Years to dear Bishop. After the lunch there was a meeting of Executive Board with the bishop where parish matters were discussed.
In the evening there was organized a cultural-performing evening where folklore groups performed and celebration continued.
