On the eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost His Grace Bishop Mitrofan of Canada served the Holy Liturgy in a full Holy Trinity Church in Kitchener. Parish priests Very Rev. Dr. Goran Gojkovic, Rector, and Rev. Jovan Marjanac, Diocesan Secretary served with His Grace. Following the reading of the Gospel our Bishop spoke of the reading of the wondrous capture of fish, reminding us that material matter in life, even if it is essential in our everyday life, simply fades in our meeting with the Lord. As the Apostles, who having caught nets full of fish, left all of that behind and recognised Jesus of Nazareth as the Godman – Messiah, so we, and all of humanity throughout the ages and into Eschaton, simply transfigure our life in repentance. Thus, we recognize our unworthiness, and in our wish for perfection, follow Him in our worldly life because He is our only Meaning, Way, Truth and Life.

Following Liturgy His Grace blessed the slava bread and wheat in honour of St. Roman the Melodist, the patron saint of our parish choir which sings under the direction of Biljana Vazic and Marko Pejanovic. His Grace wished the choir many more fruitful years of singing.

All present were hosted by the choir at a festal slava luncheon.

His Grace also took the time to bless the work of “Stevan Sindjelic Folklore Group” which was having its regular rehearsals in the afternoon.
