Church Slava Celebrated in Lakeshore

On Sunday, October 26, the feast day of the Church of the Venerable Mother Paraskeva (Saint Petka) in Lakeshore was solemnly celebrated.

The Holy Liturgy was presided over by Fr. Milorad Delic from Gracanica Church, with the concelebration of Fr. Miroljub Todorovic from Saint Dimitrije Church, and the host of the Slava, Fr. Marko Dimic.

The godparents of this year's Slava were Dijana and Dragan Vasic, while Milan Spanovic and his family took over the godparents role for next year.

After the Liturgy and the blessing of the Slava gifts, the faithful listened to a homily by Fr. Milorad. The celebration continued with a special program performed by the children of the school at the church.

During the festive lunch, the Parish Board announced that a fundraising campaign had been launched for the construction of a parish house on the church property, which caused joy and support from those present.

On the very day of the feast of Saint Petka, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated with the concelebration of priests Cornelius and Nicolai from the Romanian Orthodox Church, priest John from the Orthodox Church in America, and priests Milorad and Marko from the Serbian Orthodox Church. The choir was led by Fr. Brian Payne and Fr. Evangelos.

At the end of the Liturgy, Fr. Cornelius addressed the congregation and spoke about the importance of Saint Petka for the entire Christian race, emphasizing her example of faith, patience, and mercy.
