On October 22, 2026, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Mitrofan of Canada, Bishop Saba (Intskirveli) of the Georgian Orthodox Church brought a portion of the holy relics of Saint Gabriel of Georgia to Vancouver. On that occasion, Orthodox believers from Vancouver and surrounding areas had the wonderful opportunity to gather at the Saint Michael the Archangel Serbian Orthodox Church in Burnaby to venerate his holy relics.
The very occasion of this visit was the celebration of the jubilee of the Georgian Orthodox Church – 1700 years since Christianity became the official state religion in Georgia.
Thanking the Lord, through the prayers of Saint Gabriel of Georgia, over 400 believers bowed and venerated the relics of this saint of God. The prayer service was served by Bishop Saba with the concelebration of nine priests from a total of five different Orthodox jurisdictions.
