On Saturday October 3, 2026, the 60th anniversary of the Holy Great Martyr Dimitrije Serbian Orthodox Parish in Windsor was solemnly celebrated.

The celebration began with an evening service in the Saint Dimitrije Church, after which the ceremony continued in the church hall, with a suitable cultural and artistic program and a gala dinner.

This significant anniversary was graced by the presence of all the Orthodox priests of the city of Windsor, which testified in a special way to the brotherly unity, mutual love and fellowship of the Orthodox communities of this city. The ceremony was also attended by representatives of the provincial and city authorities including Member of Provincial Parliament Andrew Dowie and Councillor of the City of Windsor Ed Sleiman.

As part of the ceremonial program, the attending parish priest, Fr. Georgije Tubonjic, addressed the audience, who in his welcoming speech emphasized the significance of six decades of spiritual life and the existence of the parish. On that occasion, he expressed gratitude to all previous priests, founders, benefactors and generations of parishioners who, with their faith, effort and sacrifice, contributed to the preservation and progress of this sanctuary, emphasizing the importance of unity and shared responsibility for the future of the parish.

The festive program was enriched by performances by a church choir and a folklore group, which presented the wealth of Serbian spiritual and cultural tradition in a dignified manner.

The sixty years of existence of this parish are a testament to the faith, love, effort, and sacrifice of numerous generations who, far from their homeland, preserved their Orthodox faith, language, and national identity.

In a spirit of joy and unity, this great jubilee brought together numerous parishioners, friends, and benefactors of the church, reminding us of the parish's rich past, but also of the responsibility to preserve its spiritual and cultural heritage for future generations.
