Swimming for the Honourable Cross in the Pacific Ocean in Vancouver
For the third year in a row, Saint Sava Church in Vancouver – the westernmost parish of the Serbian Church – organized an Epiphany swim for the Holy Cross.
The swim was preceded by the Holy Liturgy and the blessing of the water at the Church of Saint Sava. Then, a large number of our faithful headed to one of Vancouver's beaches, Kitsilano Beach, where the priests of this church, Fr. Vuk Milisic and Fr. Marko Radmanovic, blessed the water and gave the signal for the swimmers to swim towards the Cross.
The first to reach the Cross was young Jovan Ivezic.
After the swim, the hosts treated the swimmers and everyone present to mulled wine and pastries, and with appropriate music and the enthusiasm of passersby, a procession developed along the sandy beach.
