Bishop Irénée (OCA) Celebrated Holy Hierarchical Liturgy in Burnaby

Article by Fr. Sinisa Milutinovic

On Monday August 10, 2026, on the day when our holy Serbian Orthodox Church prayerfully celebrates the Hieromartyr Milos (Bilbija), the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy, with the blessing of Metropolitan Mitrofan of Canada, was served in the Saint Michael the Archangel Church in Burnaby by Archbishop Irénée of the Orthodox Church in America, with the concelebration of the local parish priest Fr. Sinisa Milutinovic, Fr. Gregory Wright (OCA), Fr. Peter Choi (OCA), Dn. Denis Letunovsky (OCA), and with the prayerful presence of Fr. Mikhail Fourik (OCA).

The Vancouver community includes many immigrants from Grahovo and the surrounding area, where 110 years ago, Fr. Milos (also known as Milan), parish priest in Grkovci-Crni Lug, ended his martyrdom. The descendants and compatriots of Saint Milos brought a part of his holy relics to our church to strengthen us in prayer and lift us up to the Lord. This year's celebration was all the greater because we shared the joy of the holiday with our brothers and sisters from other Orthodox jurisdictions.
