Serbia's Golden National Team Members Visited the Holy Trinity Church in Montreal
On Sunday, July 12, 2026, on the feast of the Holy Glorious and All-Praiseful Apostles Peter and Paul, immediately after the end of the Canoe Sprint World Cup held in Montreal, the Holy Trinity Church was visited by members of the Serbian kayaking (canoe) team, who achieved exceptional success at this prestigious competition by winning two gold medals.
On that occasion, the parish in Montreal had the honour of welcoming national team players Marko Dragosavljevic, Zarko Jakovljevic, Branko Lagundzic, and Veljko Vjestica, as well as a member of the national team's coaching staff and coach Sima Boltic.
This visit was given special significance by the desire of our athletes to first offer their gratitude to God after their great success. As a sign of gratitude to God for the strength they had given them, the successes they had achieved through hard work, and the gold medal they had won, the national team members presented the Holy Trinity Church with one of the gold medals they had won at the World Cup in Montreal. At the same time, they presented Fr. Vladimir Vranic with an official Serbian national team shirt.
This noble gesture is a testament to the fact that true success does not rest solely on sporting achievements, but also on gratitude to God, humility, and the awareness that every good gift comes from the Lord. The donated gold medal will remain a lasting memory of this blessed encounter, but also a visible sign of the spiritual connection and unity of the Serbian people, both in their homeland and abroad.
On behalf of the parish, Fr. Vladimir thanked the distinguished guests for their love and trust, wishing them that the Lord would strengthen them in every good deed, grant them health, peace and new successes, to the joy of their families, to the pride of Serbian sports and to the good of the entire Serbian people.
The visit of the golden representatives of Serbia to the Holy Trinity Church is a beautiful testimony that faith, gratitude to God and love for the Church remain the lasting foundations on which true success is built and the spiritual identity of our people is preserved.
To many more and dear years!
